Ford Mondeo 2.0 Ecoboost

Received this from a customer in Australia who bought a Bluefin for his Ford Mondeo Ecoboost, 2 litre turbo, 200bhp, or 150kW in new money. Has not been altered at all, straight from his email. Enjoy.

Have had some time to test the Bluefin.  Definitely notice the following:

Much more torque when accelerating from a stop.  Really noticeable when at traffic lights / stop signs etc.

Reduced turbo lag. Mainly noticeable when you slow down for a corner and then gently / moderately accelerate out.  Previously there was a pause after the down shift before the car would start to accelerate.  Now this is almost gone.

Car drives on average in a higher gear when in traffic and changes down a lot less.

Can’t really quantify the increase in acceleration, but passenger comments have changed from ‘gee, this is quite fast’ to ‘Jesus Christ’.  Now when I put my foot down I often have to use both hands on the wheel (in low gears) as the torque steer has increased quite a bit.  At higher speeds when overtaking the increase is quite noticeable.  I estimate that it is now as fast as the Nissan S15 200SX that I used to own.

          Can’t comment on fuel economy.

Only negative thing I have noticed is that there is a little bit of a surge now at low/moderate acceleration around 50-60km/h as you slightly lift your foot to reduce acceleration.  Hard to describe, car effectively wobbles forward / back a few times.  I imagine that this is due to the higher boost.

In terms of installation, could not get the drivers to install on my Windows 8 machine.  Had no issues though installing on my Windows 7 laptop.

Received an email within 2 – 3 minutes after plugging in the Bluefin notifying me that the ECU map was ready to download.

Uploading to the car couldn’t have been easier.

Restoring back to original settings also a breeze.
