Hello David,
as promised some results of ‘testing’ I carried our before and after the work on my car, which I’m very pleased with as I mentioned over the phone.
I looked into some dyno testing, ‘before and after’ that I wanted to have done but as I mentioned to you I couldn’t get much reliability assurance from any one in Perth!
So, in the early morning (5am) of the day you ‘fixed’ my car I took a drive from Leach Highway down to Baldivis Rd and back to Leach on the Kwinana Freeway at a constant uninterrupted (apart from the 360 turn at Baldivis roundabout) 100 km/h in cruise control. The return trip was 65 km.
At the start of the trip I set the cars ‘fuel instruments’ to zero and recorded 9.4 l/100km ‘consumption rate’.
Early morning, 5am, following the ‘fix’ a similar trip gave 7.6 l/100km !!
On both runs the ambient temperature was 18 C and according to records from www.bom.gov.au the wind and atmospheric pressure at Jandakot Airport was about the same.
I realise the ‘fuel instruments’ are not terribly accurate but used as a comparator system not too bad I don’t suppose.
0 to 100 km/h hasn’t changed which doesn’t particularly bother me but ‘get up and go’ has noticeably improved and turbo lag isn’t noticeable any more.
So all in all very pleased with the work.
I’m off to Albany then 100 k east of there tomorrow and intend to carefully check fuel usage over what will be about an 1100/1200 k trip. I’ll let you know the result.
Peter, keep hold of your man in Perth he is…………. pretty bloody good to put it mildly, hell of a nice guy to deal with, knowledgeable, informative and other nice whatever…………… ugh!!
